Rachel Grimes signs to HOH; popping up on “Best Of 2015″ lists already!
We are very proud to announce the signing of Kentucky-based pianist, composer and arranger Rachel Grimes to the House Of Hassle roster. Earlier this year she released The Clearing on Temporary Residence Ltd, and its already getting ‘Best Of 2015′ nods from A.V. Club and Uncut. We are very excited to be on board for this release, as well as her catalog with her celebrated band Rachel’s.
Adopted Highways (aka Side Boob) appear in season 3 of Orange Is The New Black
Adopted Highways (a collection of writers, assembled by House Of Hassle, consisting of Jennifer O’Connor, Tom Beaujour and Tim Foljahn) wrote and recorded another song for Orange Is The New Black. The band and song appear in season 3, both audibly and visually (minus O’Connor). This follows up season 2, where the band had 3 songs across 2 different episodes. Tom and Tim appear on camera as part of Side Boob – the band led by the character Officer Caputo (played by Nick Sandow, who also sings on the recording). Made In Heights sign to HOH, land iPhone TV spot immediately!
Los Angeles electronic duo Made In Heights have had a busy summer so far. They recently signed with House Of Hassle, self-released their debut LP “Without My Enemy, What Would I Do,” and had one of their singles, “Murakami,” used in the most recent “Shot on iPhone 6″ television campaign, which focuses on video that was shot with the device. Damien Jurado scores film “Tumbledown”
Damien Jurado recently scored the film Tumbledown which is currently being featured at the Tribeca Film Festival. Damien penned 8 original cues for the film, and the songs are featured prominently, playing a major role in the plot.
Tim Foljahn scores film “Dead River”
Tim Fojahn recently scored the film Dead River, which is now being submitted to film festivals all over the world. Watch the first trailer below, and don’t forget to check out Tim’s new album F*cking Love Songs, which was recently released on Kiam Records.
Eluvium scores film “Come Down Molly”
Matthew Cooper (aka Eluvium), recently helped score the film Come Down Molly, which is now being featured at the Tribeca Film Festival. Cooper created original material for the film, as well as lending a few pre-existing album tracks to round out the soundtrack.
Bravo’s “Flipping Out” (ft. The Rosebuds) enters it’s 8th season
The Rosebuds‘ song “You Better Get Ready” has been the theme song for the network Bravo‘s hit show Flipping Out since the show’s incarnation. The show was recently renewed again, and is about to embark on its 8th season – and continuing to feature The Rosebuds at the top of each episode.
The Juliana Hatfield Three release new album!
21 years after The Juliana Hatfield Three released the influential album Become What You Are, House Of Hassle writer Juliana Hatfield, along with Todd Philips and Dean Fisher (the original lineup), got back together to write and record a new album, Whatever, My Love which is now out on American Laundromat Records. The record was produced and engineered by House Of Hassle writer Tom Beaujour in Hoboken, NJ at Nuthouse Recording.
Ben Gibbard covers Alvvays’ “Archie, Marry Me” in a KEXP session
In a recent live session at KEXP in Seattle, Death Cab For Cutie‘s Ben Gibbard covered House Of Hassle artist Alvvays‘ “Archie, Marry Me” for a live audience. He refers to the song as “my favorite song from last year.” A great pick if you ask us. Have a listen to his version here:
Steve Marion covers “Wild World” and it’s used in promos of “The Returned” on A&E
House Of Hassle writer Steve Marion (of Delicate Steve and Saint Rich) recently composed his own version of Cat Steven’s “Wild World.” A&E are featuring it in new promos for the network’s remake of the incredibly popular (and fantastic) French TV show The Returned. Steve had Cassandra Jenkins lay down the vocal for it. Even though “Wild World” is not a House Of Hassle copy-write, we’re still quite excited about arranging this re-record.
